You may be building a house and designing a completely new bathroom. Or maybe you are remodeling your home and adding a new bathroom or changing an existing bathroom. In either case, you have a certain amount of space to work with. I’ll offer some suggestions below.

First, list the items that are necessary in your bathroom. This list should include, of course, the toilet and the sink. If it’s a full bathroom, you’ll have to decide on a tub and shower or a shower stall.

Next, think about the articles you would like to include. People often look to have a cabinet under the sink, but if you’re short on space, you’ll probably opt for a pedestal. Consider a mirror over the sink, with or without a medicine cabinet. Lighting is important. A fan can be helpful to keep moisture out. Also consider having shelves.

At this point, it is advisable to seek professional help to guide you with the Modern Bathroom design. If you feel like you can do it on your own, here are some tips.

Measure your bathroom well. Select the items that you think you would like to have and measure them. Making a large-scale plan is suggested, but for those who are less visual, it may be helpful to cut paper to the actual size of the object. Place these elements in the bathroom, placing them where you like. This is a good way to see how things fit together. Remember to leave enough room between objects.

If everything fits well, proceed to take into account the following considerations. You may be limited by plumbing or electricity. The location of the windows makes a difference too, unless you don’t mind showering with a window.

If things don’t look right, play around with the design a bit (space, electrical, and plumbing permitting). See if you can make more efficient use of the space while still enjoying the design.

If you have a lot of space, you will have to choose between things that are not so necessary. For example, you can use a pedestal sink, which takes up much less space than a full cabinet. Or else, you can use a cabinet, but it does not include shelves. Some towels and toilet paper can be stored in the cabinet, and the rest of the items in a convenient storage area in another part of the house.

With the right measurements and a little imagination, you can have the bathroom of your dreams. When you find a design that works, it’s time to put the pieces together. This requires a lot of work, but it’s worth it.
